After the drama this weekend of Flagship Studios closing down (in full denial, however) and both the Hellgate: London and Mythos IP’s being taken from them, Tiggs put up a statement to the contrary on HGL’s official forums:

San Francisco, CA (July 14, 2008) — Flagship Studios has announced today that despite rumors to the contrary, the company is still operating.“It is with deep regret that I must announce that Flagship Studios has laid off most employees. However, the core management and founding team members are still at Flagship.” said Bill Roper, CEO of Flagship Studios. “The past five years have been an incredible experience for us, but unfortunately, we couldn’t sustain the size of the company any longer.”
Flagship Studios owns the rights to all its technology and IP, including Hellgate: London and Mythos. Due to the current situation, Flagship will not be taking any new subscribers for Hellgate: London, and all current subscriptions will not be billed.
Flagship wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to those that have supported the company and games over the past five years.

“Flagship will not be taking any new subscribers for Hellgate: London, and all current subscriptions will not be billed.”
Does that mean people who had a subscription, just scored an unlimited premium account (provided the servers stay operating)?
Finally, a response from Flagship Studios! Limited details are provided, but at least it’s something. I’m just glad to hear any kind of a response. Though it does seem changes are on the way for “all” that subscriber content. If FSS does end up, long-term, continuing to provide/own Hellgate, it’s just a waiting game to see what changes are made with the profit model.
While the announcements from HanabitSoft, flat out says, they’re going to be making their own content for Hellgate. Which may or may not have something directly due to all the layoffs at FSS. What would be really nice, and possibly even win/win for anyone, is if FSS and HanabitSoft both retained (or gained) rights to the point of each being able to take the game in different directions and actually so. Could only be a good thing if two very different flavors of HGL came out. Hellgate: London Asia and Hellgate: London (FSS). Would be fitting by HGL being the bastard son of Roguelikes.

@Crimson Starfire: That was the general thought on the forum thread last night, yes, that non-subscribers now had full subscriber content access. At the time I was reading, I don’t recall that any non-subscriber had verified this as fact and posted their results, however. At level 14, I’m nowhere close to being able to get to Stonehenge myself.
