I’m still wildly confused about the classes in Warhammer: Age of Reckoning so for now I’m just going on looks and the basic description I’m reading on the official site. Which honestly, to someone like myself who is utterly unfamiliar with the Warhammer IP, I am finding the official site to be a bit lacking in the particular information I’m seeking.

At the time of this writing I’m leaning towards the Chosen, which sound very much like Vanguard’s Dread Knight. A warrior embued with dark magicks; an anti-paladin; a tank with style. I like that very much. The problem is I think of RPG’s with a very PvE mindset and that’s not what WAR is about. I’ve stated a few times how inept I am at melee PvP in these MMO’s so that is my primary concern about playing a Chosen.

Chosen

Backup considerations also include the Black Orc, although once more I have the melee PvP problem. Also those are one of the only Destruction classes that look a little to WoW-ish which is a bit of a turn-off. Otherwise I may be stuck with caster class, either Sorceress for dps or Shaman for healing, but I honestly don’t care for playing casters unless I have real-time spell-casting. This “sit still and wait for the progress bar” is garbage, and healers are usually gimped to the point of being useless if they’re not in a group and only healing. The Shaman is the other “looks awful close to WoW” class that I’m not keen on.

These are my initial considerations, but I think it’s going to come down to actually playing the classes for me to make a final decision what class my “main” character will be in the Casualties of WAR guild. (Couldn’t resist some last-second pimpage!)

Oddly enough, I was looking at the Black Orc or Chosen as well. Seeing the lack of interest in healer classes, I’m now leaning towards Battle Priest or maybe the Disciple of Khaine. Sounds different from the typical healer classes that sit back and heal.

If WAR isn’t gimping their healers so that they can’t do shit without being grouped and all they can do is heal, I’ll consider it. At least I’ll feel I’m contributing to the group more than being Yet Another DPSer. With the hours I work, I need a class able to solo effectively since I’m most often playing when the majority of guild-mates are not so grouping becomes problematic.

I like tanking, especially with my Dread Knight in VG which is what the Chosen description reminds me of, but the whole PvP aspect of things makes me wonder if I’d be more of a liability. PvP is too fast for me to move, target, and spam attacks at that close of a range, especially if I have several hotbars worth of skills, etc. to fuss over.

I can’t decide either. There are a lot of choices which is a good thing. However, as you mentioned, Mythic’s class info is VERY thin on the ground this close to launch. Feeling a bit SOE light info ish. By now I would have liked to see lists of abilities per class and the options for each tree, at least until level 20.

WOW has burned me on healing classes but in PVP, I really do find healing more rewarding.

Yeah I absolutely hated playing a priest in WoW, but in LOTRO and DDO both I’m able to fight and heal at the same time. Vanguard also has the disciple class who needs to dps in order to heal, similar to what one/some of WAR’s classes are doing, so there are certainly alternatives out there to the plain brown box WoW puts everyone into. Even my Defiler creep in LOTRO’s PvMP is mainly a backline “stand still and heal” kinda class, but he has several nice debuffs to hit the freeps with, and there’s really not much standing still in that kinda PvP so I’m fine with that trade-off.

My main’s a Marauder. I hope you go with Chosen, because that’s a killer combo.
