Oh, it's a crying shame what EQ2 turned out to be (for me). I read the features list and it sounds like my dream game. Then I login and every single mechanic and system in the game is just wrong and completely pushes me away.

And EQ2 fans have no business whining that LOTRO has crappy character models. Taste is subjective and all that jazz, but many of EQ2's models look just retarded and with a very Fisher Price vibe to them, in a rather creepy way. Cool animations for the characters but crappy -- CRAPPY -- animations for mobs, etc.

Back to the topic of the article though, I still think it would be awesome to have a cross-promotional expansion that has essentially the same content like this "back in time" stuff only done using the strengths and systems that each game brings to the table. Gamers like Tipa who play both EQ and EQ2 could play through the "same" content but yield entirely different experiences due to the differences in each game.

SOE really has made some bad moves with EQ2.

They also promise the moon when they cannot deliver at times.

The engine for example really needs an overhaul thanks to it's CPU reliance. The team kept touting they were working on this.

They just announced they will NOT be doing this

WTF?

The game has so much to offer, but then falls flat with uncohesive zones, and some pretty bland questing. HQ's are fun, and the AA system, the broker, housing and Guild tools are pretty darn good.

The combat sure was fun also, and I really like how the characters move. Thanks to SOGA models, I think it really helped me enjoy the game more than the Claymation did.

Ah well, long in the tooth now. Good thing such a dedicated crowd plays it.
