I'm pretty sure the rule is, once a CoW, always a CoW, so if you do ever decide to give it another go, my understanding is that all you need do is update your roster and give a shout in chat.

I'm struggling with a lot of the same issues. Basically I refuse to pay $15/month to play scenarios when I could play COD4 for free and have essentially the same experience (albeit in a different setting). Hopefully Mythic will continue to work on luring people out of the scenario queue.

I play Destruction on Ostermark (an RP server) and the population there is Med/Med and there's a lot more chat going on, a lot more people roaming around. Presumably because scenarios don't pop every 2 minutes. Of course, the downside is I don't (yet) know anyone there.

True I guess, but honestly I never get groups in MANY of the older MMO's. I was just surprised at how FAST WAR emptied out at the low levels. The problem is the market has too many MMO's now, but the BIGGEST population is in WoW, at least for us North Americans. I don't know how the Asian MMO's are population wise. If you dont catch onto that initial wave of levelers, you are in for a long haul as far as socializing. And honestly before I quit, it was hard to find groups doing ANYTHING in WoW as well, because Burning Crusade was long in the tooth.

We need mentoring, housing, open dungeon crawls, a large population and pvp... all these common things in ONE MMO. Until then it is going to be a leap fest to the next big thing for people like me that have the need to be constantly entertained in these games.

Either that or I need a wayback machine to 2001

Of course I never left LOTRO. WAR was *never* going to turn into my main game. I just don't see a PvP-focused MMO having enough lasting power for it to be my main game. But I always have at least two subscription MMO's going, plus Guild Wars for a non-Diku change of pace. I was hoping WAR would launch with enough oomph to be my second game. It didn't, for me.

And you're correct, I didn't give it 100%. With the negative experiences I've had thus far, I saw no reason to keep punishing myself to give more and more of myself and my time on the mere hope that things would improve. On the flip side, I don't feel it's my responsibility to give 100% to any game simply on its own merit. I feel the game should have a certain je ne sais quoi that draws me in so that I *want* to give that 100% and more. Understand the difference?

Had nothing to do with having "other things/games in the back of my mind." It had everything to do with the fact that I was alone. Only the *first two* days I played did I ever see a lot of players doing stuff. On the third day, it became a ghost town and has remained one ever since. Playing solo while interacting or chatting with others is one thing. Being the only player in the entire realm is quite another. No one to interact with? I'd rather load up a single-player RPG on the 360 for a much more satisfying RPG experience than some first-generation DikuMMO whose greatest strengths become its greatest weaknesses when there's no one else around.

I am not sure you gave the game 100%, but that is OK. Honestly, like I posted in my Erroneous Statements blogpost, you never LEFT LOTRO.

You cant play a new game while you still have other things in the back of your mind. It just doesnt work. It is the same reason I cant get EQ1 out of my head. ANd yes I used no apostrophes in this comment. Im tired and lazy today. Honestly, just write what you play. LOTRO is your game. And I am starting think that I will never get out under WoW's shadow. As much shit as I talk, I cant get over you

WAR was not a PvE game.

The ability to do various things was not the purpose of WAR.
I think in the end, this is where the disconnect for many players who have left, felt wronged..

The game was meant to be a pure grind. They masked it behind fast gameplay mechanics (though slow mo combat...what is the point of that?), with easy grouping with zero need to discuss strategies..

They offered better rewards for simplified casual play, but for those who love PvP.

I knew it when I played it within the first day...yet, so many kept going on about how it was different and fun..

WAR is PLAYED, and just like you said...

"I could re-sub to WoW"

Looks like you are not alone.
