The LOTRO servers went down a few minutes ago at 4pm EST as Turbine prepares for the launch of Mines of Moria! After a morning of leveling and crafting with my captain, some Annuminas daily quests with my minstrel, I finally logged in Arwellyn to countdown the final hour with my kin and the fun folk in GLFF.

I thought some Before and After screenshots would be nice to have, so she rode the swift horse into Mirobel, which is the tiny instanced chunk of Eregion that was included as part of the final Book 14 quest.

Mirobel

I guess it’s safe to assume that the real Mirobel area will look the same once the full Eregion zone goes live. There’s more inside the actual Volume I, Book 14, Chapter 15 instance but that isn’t soloable so I was unable to get any screenshots before the orcs noticed she was posing for photos and gave their own suggestions of a proper obituary photograph…

Finally, mere minutes before the server went down, we rode into Giant Valley in the Trollshaws where the gate to Eregion lies. It will be interesting to see if the gate is still there at all or if any terrain is altered once the road to Eregion is opened tomorrow.

The Eregion Gate

Arwellyn and several others camped at the gate, and anxiously await the servers to go live for more adventures! It sounds like we’ll be doing Eregion content first; the beta guys have told me to not set foot into Moria itself until at least level 52 and even then most of the mobs will be red so I’ll need to be in a group or just haul ass and hope for the best.

I’m very excited. Just restarted LoTRO after a thwarted week-long trial last year and WOW! has this game really come into its own. Beautiful, beautiful game world, great community, amazing story-driven questlines, and I love the crafting. I have a ways to go before any of my characters hit 50, but I woke up early this morning just to roll up my rune-keeper before work.

Same here. I rolled my Runekeeper and Warden and moved my 50 champion into Eregion. Grabbed the first 3 stables up to Mirobel and anxiously await work to be over. I plan on making a beeline for Moria gate and doing book 1.1 to get my first legendary item then backtrack and do some questing in Eregion as well as book 15. Good luck to everyone and enjoy the adventure!

@tenfoldhate: If you’re on Arkenstone look me up! Having a blast so far, doing a little Volume I Book 15, some Eregion questing and Volume II Book 1 right now.

    WTB More Bags!!! :(

@ Scott: I actually play on Meneldor because that’s where my brother-in-law was established when I first tried the 10-day trial. If I ever roll an alt, I’ll hunt you down on Arkenstone, though.

    :)
