Pumping Irony

The good news? I won a contest that rewards $50 USD in Microsoft Points which equates to 4000. Microsoft Points are shared in both the Xbox Live and Zune Marketplaces so I’ll be sitting pretty for picking up some new content. I’m already sitting on just a tad over 2000, so this is awesome! The DLC expansion for GTA 4, The Lost and Damned is 1600. I’m currently playing GTA 4 and was planning on waiting until I finish it before picking up TLAD but I might just go ahead and nab it. I’ve had my eye on a few songs in the Zune Marketplace as well although I typically buy from Amazon because ironically I’m not a fan of the Points system. Maybe it helps parents control how much their kids can spend, I don’t know, but I’m an adult and I would prefer to just spend the exact dollar amount. However, I keep charging up my Points because in addition to Xbox 360 gaming-related content, I use their Video Marketplace to rent HD movies. I don’t have a Blu-Ray player nor do I plan on getting one in the foreseeable future, and having it delivered directly to my console beats walking to Blockbuster, searching the new releases then ending up with a scratched DVD. I have been slowly working up a post on what I’d like to see with future 360-Zune integration, so winning some Points can serve as a segue as well as providing an extra boost of motivation to sit down and convert my notes into an article.

The “bad” news? A meme has been making the rounds this week to post screenshots. I tried — unsuccessfully, obviously — to lay low and be a wallflower but DM Osbon and Hudson have earned themselves a lifetime subscription to fetish porn spam double-tagged me anyway. I’ll have to think of a way to pull this off, though. The last time I put up an article with multiple screenshots (actually I think there were multiple articles with multiple screenshots being rendered on the front page) my host complained of extremely high CPU usage and manually did a chmod 000 and chown root:root to disable my NextGEN gallery script. It’s all taken care of now but I don’t want it to happen again. I’ll see if I can figure out how to make a slideshow out of individually-selected pictures rather than being forced to create a new album just for this meme. So, it’s going to be next week before my memeshots are up. Also, pretty much everyone in my reading list has already been tagged before it got around to me, so I won’t be tagging anyone else. Yeah, I’m one of those guys who deletes email chain letters, too! Rawr!
